Antarctica – A Place of Wonder

  • Venice Audubon Center 4002 South Tamiami Trail Venice, FL, 34293 United States (map)

Antarctica is the coldest, driest place on earth — an inhospitable place of wild majesty. Joyce Jatko will take you on an exploration of Antarctica. You’ll learn a little of its history since explorers first discovered it, the unique Treaty that governs it, its scientific importance in understanding the cosmos and our climate, and of course meet some of the incredible wildlife that comes to breed every year. Come hear about penguins and seals, icebergs and glaciers. Join Joyce for a journey to the seventh continent.

When: The social period begins at 6 p.m. and the general meeting and program follow at 6:30 p.m.
(Please note: VAAS programs will be held on the 2nd Tuesday in December and 1st Tuesday in May only.)
