Venice Audubon Rookery Park is home to a colony of Purple Martins, the largest swallow species in North America.  As a site host, or landlord, we provide housing and an environment conducive to Purple Martin breeding beginning in late January and continuing through early summer.  Learn about the natural history of these aerial specialists including migration, nesting, and brood raising.  

After an indoor presentation, walk to the Purple Martin housing racks to lower the nest cavities and help count nests, eggs, and young as part of our ongoing data collection throughout the breeding season.
