Harns Marsh is an outstanding location near Fort Myers for seeing wading birds, waterfowl, and other birds. Due to a population of Apple Snails, Harns Marsh is one of the only places that the threatened Snail Kite can be seen outside of the Everglades.  The trip will involve about 2 to 3 miles walking along dirt roads.

A  bonus visit will be made to Manatee Park to view the Manatees.

($2/hr. parking fee)

This field trip is in Lehigh Acres near Ft. Myers and will take much of a day.  Bring your lunch with you. Registration is required.  The distance to Harns Marsh from the Venice Audubon Center is about 70 miles and takes about 1 hour 30 min to drive. Contact the host if you are interested in being a carpool driver or passenger.  Tentatively the carpool will meet at the Audubon Center to pick up passengers at 7:30 AM.  Planned return time is 5 PM.

Registration is REQUIRED.
