Meet and Learn: Member Meeting & Monthly Educational Program

Life in the Rookery: With Jack Foard (VAAS Past President/volunteer).

This presentation is a beautiful picture story that begins with a peek back into the history of a small group of shallow ponds in the Venice wetlands that morphed into one of the most beloved Rookeries in Florida. It takes a quick look at the plume hunters horrific assault on the multiple species of wading birds who now call our Rookery home, almost driving them to extinction, and how the Audubon Society came into being over 100 years ago to save these birds. Jack will share his favorite stories of life in the Venice Rookery featuring images shared by some the areas best photographers. If you love birds and wildlife you will love this show.

All are welcome - members of the public as well as Venice Audubon Members.

Participants are strongly encouraged to follow current COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

  • 6:00pm:  Social time and refreshments (optional)
  • 6:30pm: Monthly Membership Meeting
  • Monthly Educational Program follows (usually 6:45)
