June's book is Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. The book can be purchased online and in bookstores.
Silent Spring is a testament to one woman's efforts to bring to light the indiscriminate use of chemical pesticides and the damaging impact of those chemicals on the environment. Rachel Carson's writing introduced the public to a new understanding of and relationship with the environment. As a woman scientist and writer, her efforts were monumental in the early post-World War II era and she is considered a founding influence of the environmental movement and profoundly impacted the early years of Venice Area Audubon Society.
Registration not necessary but appreciated.
NOTE: This is for in-person discussion. The Zoom discussion group will be listed as a separate, registration required event.
