This extraordinary wildlife preserve offers some of the best birding in Sarasota County. Only a little walking will be involved. The trip involves driving to a number of different birding sites with limited parking.

Staff from the Myakka Wild & Scenic River Program and Myakka River State Park will be assisting with the field trip which will focus on the river area, floodplain marsh and Upper Myakka Lake.  

Entry fee for Myakka River State Park is $6 per car.

The state park opens at 8:00 AM. Please arrive promptly. Our meeting point will be the first parking lot inside the park. Take the first right just past the entrance station to the parking area. After signing the liability release form we will car pool together because of the limited parking.
